Music Summit Guided Raft Trip on the Blackfoot River
Spend the morning on the scenic Blackfoot River, floating 5.7 miles from Whittaker Bridge to Johnsrud. Equipment, transportation guides and lunch provided. Vans will transport you from the UM campus to the river. What a better way to enjoy your visit to Montana!

*Two Missoula floats are available (“Hellgate Canyon to Missoula” and “Kona to Harpers”.) Both floats are cost effective and only about 2 hours in length. Weather is very unpredictable, and the floats can be uncomfortable in cold weather.

Excursions that do not require special arrangements

Art & Culture Tour
Check out the Missoula Art Museum located downtown. Tours are free to all patrons and take approximately 45 minutes. Following the tour, keep busy by visiting the many art galleries located downtown or taking a self-guided Public Art Tour through downtown. Hike the 'M'
Take in a nearly 360-degree view of the Missoula valley and Clark Fork River from the *'M' trail located on Mount Sentinel. The Hike to the 'M' is 3/4 mile and includes resting benches along the way where you can stop and enjoy the view.  For those feeling ambitious, you can continue your hike to the top of Mount Sentinel which is a mile from the 'M'. 

*Located on the eastern end of The University of Montana campus near Washington Grizzly Stadium. Distance from the University Center to the top of the 'M' is approximately 25 minutes (50 minutes round trip). 

 

Brennan's Wave and Downtown Shopping
Experience the many boutiques, coffee shops and eateries located along Higgins Ave as you make your way to the Clark Fork River and Brennan's Wave. Brennan’s Wave is a man-made white-water wave where you can watch river surfers and kayakers in action! Historic Walking Tour
Take a self-guided tour in downtown Missoula to experience the beauty and history of the area. Use the historic walking tour guide provided by the Missoula Downtown Association at https://www.missouladowntown.com/play/historic-walking-tour/.

 

Educational Tour
Tour the Smokejumpers Visitor Center to learn about aerial firefighting. Tour are free to all patrons and takes approximately 45minutes. The tour allows visitors to view the parachute loft, prep room and other facilities within the training base.
